DEPTT. OF MICROBIOLOGY, MAM COLLEGE FROM 9 A.M. TO 4 P.M.

  • Clinical specimens obtained from patients attending OPD and indoor patients are received, processed and reported.

EMERGENCY MICROBIOLOGY LABORATORY, LOK NAYAK HOSPITAL, 24 HOURS SERVICES.

Clinical specimens from the Casualty Department and OPD are received, processed and reported.

INVESTIGATIVE SERVICES AVAILABLE IN DEPARTMENT OF MICROBIOLOGY, MAM COLLEGE

  • The following facilities are available for diagnosis of infectious diseases due to Bacteria (including T.B.), Fungi, Parasites and Viruses.
    • Direct Microscopy
    • Culture of CSF, Pus, Blood, Body fluids, Urine, Stool, Etc.
    • Antibiotic susceptibility testing of Pathogenic bacteria
    • Serological tests for
      1. Bacteria infections (Typhoid, Syphillis etc.)
      2. Viral infections (Dengue, Hepatitis, Rubella, CMV, Herpes etc.)
      3.  Parasitic infections (Toxoplasma etc.)
  • Rapid tests for detection of Cryptococcus, Malaria.

INVESTIGATIVE SERVICES AVAILABLE IN EMERGENCY MICROBIOLOGY LAB.

Direct Microscopy
(WET MOUNT, INDIA INK, GRAMS STAIN, AFB STAIN, HANGING DROP, ALBERT'S STAIN)
For CSF, Plus/Swabs, Throat Swab, Urine, Stool, Bodu Fluid, and Aspirates.

Peripheral Smear(GIEMSA STAIN)
For Malaria and Microfilaria.
Culture and Sensitivity(BACTERIAL)
For CSF, Blood, Pus, Swabs, Throat Swab, Urine Stool, Body fluid, and Aspitates.

Latex Aggilutination
For Antigen detection for CSF

Serology

Rapid Screening of HIV I & II, HBSAG and HCV
For Hemodialysis patients and Health care workers with occupational exposure to blood and Body Fluids.

Results of investigations are available within

  • Two Hours for Direct Miroscopy and Serology
  • 24 -48 Hours for Culture and Sensitivity
