Q1: How to refer the patient for treatment in Radiotherapy department?
Ans: Treating physician or surgeon can fill up a simple radiotherapy referral form(available in dept of RT) & send the patient along with it on all the six working days of week,also enclosing unstained slides or wax block of biopsy.
Q2: Types of treatment offered?
Ans: We are treating patient with both radiotherapy & chemotherapy as and when required. In consultation with parent surgeon / physician best treatment strategy is arrived on.
Q3: What types of machines available in dept?
Ans: One Telecobalt machine ( THERATRON 780E) for teletherapy is available ,one Brachytherapy machine(Elekta -Nucletron Microselectron -HDR) is going to be functional soon and one simulator machine for radiotherapy planning is under installation process
Q4: How long a radiotherapy treatment takes to finish?
Ans: On an average 5 to 7 weeks. Patients are treated daily monday to friday, five days a week. each treatment session lasts few minutes.
